Summer Recreation Program
Monday – Friday 9am – 12:00 pm
$125 for first child, $65 per additional sibling
- Featuring a myriad of activities throughout the summer to keep kids active, engaged and happy, the Wellfleet Recreation Summer Program includes sports, games, team activities, arts & crafts, yoga, dance, nature classes and playing at the beach. With a field trip or extra special fun day each week and other special events and visitors throughout the season, there's always something new to look forward to. Our friendly and energetic staff are eager to make every day fun, and their extensive training helps ensure safety and inclusivity for all.
- Day “campers” are gathered by grade into the following four groups:
Marconi – Grades K/1
LeCount – Grades 2/3
Cahoon – Grades 4/5
Newcomb – Grades 6 – 9
- Each team rotates through four activities that change every day and a designated snack time. Snacks are provided free from Food-4-Kids, but kids are welcome to bring their own from home if they prefer or have allergies, etc. Food-4-Kids is on-site each day at dismissal handing out free lunches to all children who want them
- Dismissal is between 11:45 and 12:00.
At the ages of 13 & 14, youth can apply to be volunteer Leaders In Training (LIT) fka "CIT" where they will learn to assist counselors and swim instructors with leading our participants in activities, games and swim lessons. To apply, please print, complete and return our 2025 LIT Application. Completed applications can be returned to recreation@wellfleet-ma.gov
Extended Program (“After Rec”)
Monday – Friday 12:00pm – 3:00 pm
$250 per child
- The Wellfleet Recreation Extended Program, commonly referred to as “After Rec” is open only to children who are enrolled in the morning program and priority registration is given to year-round working families before it is opened to all other residents.
- Though featuring many of the same activities as our morning program, guest instructors are often brought in that offer special classes in activities like archery, Capoeira, Japanese writing, drawing, pickle ball and more. Small hiking trips, walks around the harbor or the beach, and swimming are also often offered.
- The afternoon begins with lunch. Unlike the morning program, afternoon “campers” elect one of two - three activities to participate in. There are two opportunities to choose an activity each day, with snack time in between. Afternoon snacks are also provided by Food-4-Kids.
- Each child who wants to participate in swimming at After Rec (this is not swim lessons) will have one afternoon each week that they are assigned to go to Gull Pond. On that day each week, your child will need to be picked up at Gull Pond instead of at Baker’s Field. All “campers” must be picked up by no later than 3 pm each day.
